The Cantina Sociale Beragamasca has today 150 associates with a total of 160 ha of vineyards spread across the area under guardianship of the Valcalepio DOC and Bergamasca IGT.
All the vineyards are quite small in nature, mainly located on high hills and splendidly cultivated with passion and love by their landowners.
Their exposure is south, south-east, the soil is calcareous-clayey and the climate is ideal to give rich aromatic qualities to the grapes.
The vines have been trained with traditional and modern systems on organic grassy land in order to obtain top quality grapes, maximising tannin and flavour ripeness.
Next to the traditional Pergola in the last few years training system such as Guyot and Cordone Speronato (Spurred Cordon) have been introduced with a medium density of 4,000 vines per hectare.
It's in these hills that vines such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Schiava Lombarda, Incrocio Manzoni and Moscato di Scanzo find the best conditions for a wide variety of amazing wines.
The vineyards are open to visitors wishing to experience the breathtaking beauty of the hills and uncover the splendid origins of our wines.
The Cantina Sociale Bergamasca was established in 1957 and began production in 1960 immediately becoming the centre for innovation and research for vine-growing in the Bergamo region. It all began in 1974 with the DOC concession to Valcalpio which today still represents the major part of its wine production.
Besides tending the vineyards, our 150 associates decided that wine making and bottling optimization was needed in order to have a return for their hard work. Following this decision with a policy of producing good quality wine, the Cantina has become the success that it still is today.
We are proud to say that our winery is the leader in its field in certain aspects of wine production. The bottling equipment uses the most modern machinery thus guaranteeing the conservation of the organic characteristics and the highest quality of the wine produced.
The cellar can manage 2000 hl of wine ageing in different types of wooden casks. All this makes the Cantina Sociale Bergamasca capable of satisfying any type of market and demand with high standards in quality control whilst meeting all our customers needs.
The Cantina also offers to its customers the opportunity to visit its cellar, tour its vineyards and tasting its wines throughout the year.
