Fuipiano Valle Imagna

Description

There is not a lot of historical information concerning the town of Fuipiano. It is located in a panoramic position at the Northern end of the Valley Imagna, and like many small towns of Bergamo, including Costa Valle Imagna, Fulipiano seems to date back to medieval times.
The name probably originates from the dialect of Bergamo, in particular by "foipià", indicating a plateau with many beech trees.
Throughout its territory, the most important evidence of past history seems to be the Parish Church of San Giovanni Battista, built in the XVIII century. For the location and the art treasures preserved inside (including frescoes by Giuseppe Orelli), this church is one of the most beautiful and important churches of the whole province.
