Beautiful border region, Friuli Venezia Giulia is rich in museums (Udine, Tolmezzo, Pordenone, Cividale del Friuli, San Daniele, Gorizia, Aquileia), architectural styles (in Udine historical center, for example, the Gothic Venetian style Loggia del Lionello and the beautiful XX century Palazzo Comunale are facing each other) and cultural interests (in Udine there is either an Ancient Art Gallery and a Modern Art one).
Aquileia, port city in Roman times and fourth in Italy after Rome, Mediolanum and Capua, is rich in monument of great artistic and cultural value (the Patriarchal Basilica, the river port, the Roman burial ground) as well as seat of two important museums (the Early-Christian Museum and the National Archaeological Museum).
