Description

An architecturally and historically imposing building surrounded by an extraordinary vineyard, in a land where the vine brings forth precious nectar. This is how one could describe Antica Tenuta Pegazzera situated in the heart of Oltrepo Pavese, 500 mts above the sea on the road between Casteggio to Montalto.

The origins

The production of wine goes back to ancient times, initially connected to the Casteggio feud becoming later the property of the noble family of Berzio and Vitali.

In 1698 ownership passes to Almo Collegio Borromeo of Pavia who increase the production of wine and build between 1703 and 1718 the grand mansion house. The construction includes an evocative Chapel dedicated to San Carlo Borromeo. At the end of the 800's the Collegio Borromeo stops many of its operations including the Pegazzera farm. After a century neglect, in 1967 a restoration project is launched of the estate and wine making equipment.

Today the Mansion has been restored to its former splendor whilst the winemaking equipment has been completely renewed; the vines have been carefully selected and recently planted. Tenuta Pegazzera only make wine with their own grapes of which; Pinot Nero, Barbera, Croatina (Bonarda), Chardonnay, Cabernet, Sauvignon, Riesling Italico e Renano.

Our Value

History, tradition, region, quality and passion.

With great commitment and passion we look after the production of our wines, beginning from the cultivation of the vines and ending with the scrupulous harvesting of the grapes before the precise making of our wines. Our main effort is put into the continued improvement of the quality of our production, we are always looking to combine modern technology with the conservation of antique traditions.

The care and passion with which we cultivate our wines, the respect for the traditional processes of wine making and a continued attention to the use of technology allow us to produce products that express great elegance and personality.
