A small town of Oltrepò Pavese area, situated in the valley of the stream Coppa, Borgo Priolo was officially founded in 1929 by merging the former municipalities of Staghiglione and Torre del Monte. It was mentioned for the first time in a document dated 1250, containing the list of lands Oltrepò Pavese. Part of the fief of Montebello, Borgo Priolo passed to the heirs of Claudio Beccaria, after his death (1629) and they sold the Camera Ducale, in 1692, to Pio Beccaria. The lands of the fief were reduced in 1758 and then ceded to Giovanni Dattili in 1793.
