The Moris family which has dedicated itself for generations to agriculture and has over the years increased their interest and specialization in viticulture. Due to this investment of interest, attention and ambition, they have been rewarded with the utmost of satisfaction.
The actual surface area of the farm is 476 hectares and is divided as follows:
- 420 Hectares: Located near to Massa Marittima (Fattoria Poggetti), of which 37 hectares of vineyards are contained within the DOC of "Monteregio di Massa Marittima".
- 56 Hectares: Within the property of Poggio la Mozza, of which 33 hectares of vineyards are contained with the DOC of "Morellino di Scansano".
Massa Marittima
A series of new planting have occurred since 1990 in vineyards of Massa Marittima and today they are represented as follows:
31 hectares of new vineyards
6 hectares which exist from the 1970's
The soil is composed of clay, with a PH slightly alkaline (7,7); due to the presence of an elevated content of pure calcium. The density of the foundation is abundant (35 %) which allows for an excellent drainage.
The altitude of the vineyards varies from 80 - 100 meters above sea level.
The exposition of the rows is facing south west.
Poggio la Mozza
For what concerns the vineyards of Poggio la Mozza, in the area of Morellino di Scansano, in 1995 we initiated a replanting and we finished these changes in 2004.
The entire zone of the Poggio la Mozza vineyard is made up of hills and has an altitude of approximately 100 meters above sea level. The soil contains a slight crumbling of rock and appears sandy, with traces of limestone. The foundation is notably dense and deep.
The PH has a tendency toward acidity: 6, 3.
The exposition of the rows is north to south.
All the new vineyards of both the estates are planted with a density of 2,60 meters between the rows and 0,75 between each plant. This result in a total of 5.128 plants per hectare.
Tenuta Poggetti is a wine estate of ancient tradition extending from the sunny hills of Massa Marittima to the Tirrenian sea. Set in a tranquil, natural environment in the heart of the Maremma, the estate offers guests refined hospitality in an exclusive setting. The endless cypress-bound avenues which connect the several villas and farm houses belonging to the estate are an enticement for walking, horse riding or cycling. Wether exploring the Etruscan and medieval sights, visiting the historical art cities or cruising the near-by islands of the beautiful Tuscan archipelago, the estate is extremely well located.
