Valley with antique traditions and mountain cultures, "Paradise" for sport fans, the Val Senales, after the discovery of Ötzi, "the Man of the Glacial Age", known as the Mummy of Similaun has become an important destination for cultural tourism.
Main resort with a central location of the Val Senales is Madonna di Senales, situated in the middle of the valley, between green fields and old rocks. Its name derives from a miraculous art work of a small Madonna, found by a pilgrim in 1304. Today, the chapel, built at the centre of the old town, is a pilgrimage attraction of great respect. Recently an ArcheoParc has been built in Madonna di Senales for those keen on learning all about the life and death of the Ötzi.
The district of Certosa, which was built within the walls of the Certosino Convent of "Monte degli Angeli" and closed in 1782: even though subject to a large fire in 1924, the kitchens of the convent, the Prior's rooms, the external walls, the main entrance and the parish house of Sant'Anna can still be visited.
