Buonabitacolo
Description
Buonabitacolo, set between the Vallo di Diano and the Val D'Agri, was an important trade and commerce centre, due to its strategic position. Many relics date back to the VII century BC and the ancient defensive walls (VI century BC) were brought to light.
The layout of the town Buonabitacolo reflects the original, characterised by two distinct centres at different levels. The upper part hosts the Church of the Annunziata, which was recently renovated and which hosts important works dating back to the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The lower part offers the Chapel of Santa Maria degli Angeli, in eighteenth-century style.
There are interesting nature trips in the Cerreta-Cognoie Woodland and in the Mount Carmelo Oases where you can enjoy an enchanting view of Vallo di Diano.
