"Chiara Ziliani" winery's 12 hectares are all contained in the important region where sparkling " Franciacorta DOCG " is produced. The winery is on a small, morainic hill in the village of Provaglio d'Iseo, 240 meters above sea level. It includes various terraced plots of land connected by slopes and roads. The vineyards currently in cultivation occupy twelve hectares on slopes having a difference of 50 meters between the highest and lowest point and exposures that vary from east to southwest. This configuration is particularly important for the diversity of each piece of land which offers various microclimatic characteristics. The consideration of these factors (land-exposure-climate) in the choice of different varieties enables the winery to obtain diversified, high-quality production.
The firm , in order to achieve a high quality enological product, chose an espalier system with a plant variety of two meters between the wires and a good 0.7 meters between vines, with a high density of 7100 plants per hectare. In this way our company can guarantee low grape production per vine with the exact agronomic practices (severe pruning, low nitrogen feed and canopy management). Low grape production is a compromise, but is indispensable to assure a quality grape and an excellent wine. The training system is a micro "cordone speronato" which consists of a permanent cane with four to five one-bud spurs.
In addition, the choice of varieties cultivated bears in mind the enological objective cited above, and for this reason, the winery is oriented toward important internationally acclaimed varieties like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for the production of sparkling wines and white wines for aging; Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, for the production of reserve red wines. With respect to the environment outside the winery, the firm cultivates all its land in a way that assures low environmental impact.

Our target is the production of highest quality wines which express their characteristic bouquets, brilliance and colours in the respect of nature, without ever betraying their originality and their ties with Franciacorta soil.
