Description

Our company was founded after years of research to find the best soil conditions in Montalcino, exposition on the South and micro-climate most suitable to reach an ideal and balanced maturation of the Sangiovese grape variety. The Brunello wine is actually a rare, precious and somehow difficult wine resulting from the perfect harmony among innumerable elements.

In 1989 we finally purchased the first old, south exposed vineyards, in the area of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, near the medieval abbey of Sant'Antimo, in that part of the Montalcino district which, speaking of wine, assured us with the best possible results.

In the same years we began a collaboration with the University of Milan (Faculty of Agriculture) to plant new vineyards in the same area. We carefully selected the most suitable clones of Sangiovese for this kind of soil together with the most accurate planting systems and density of vines per hectare. In our opinion quality comes from the vineyards, originating from the harmonious maturation of the grapes obtained with the help of drastic prunings and with a strict selections of the grapes during the harvest time.

The same care we have for the vineyards, we also devote to the cellar, with the supervision of Master Giulio Gambelli, a great and famous man in the Tuscan world of wine.

We employ oak vats for the fermentation as well as stainless steel tanks and woodden oaks for the long macerations. We then mature the wine in beautiful medium size oak barrels (20 - 30 hectoliters) which are often renovated to obtain the best aromatic expressions. Our target was, and still is, that of making a great Brunello, in the style of "Tradition", in which the Sangiovese can express all its endless potentialities in the most natural way. We strongly believe that great innovations are already part of our history, which only needs to be carefully revisited.

The Sangiovese grape, as well as all the greatest grape varieties, is very sensitive to the territory where it grows and can express in its infinite variations all the differences in micro-climate, soil components, sun and light which receives from dawn to sunset.

Our Brunello is the most honest expression of the vine-rows grown in this area. It has the typical aroma coming from our soil and sun and from our slow maturations. Our target is primarily to make a wine which is the natural mark of this territory. We do not want external agents to interfere with our wine. The yeasts we use during the fermentation are those obtained from our grapes.

It is fundamental for us to have perfect hygienic conditions and cleanliness in the cellar as well as an excellent condition of the oak barrels.

Our Brunello needs long years of maturation in the barrels in order to allow all the aromas and the other organoleptic components of the Sangiovese to expand and evolve in the most natural and harmonious way and to ultimately reveal all its original and unique characteristics. Hence, the most important is to employ new and perfect wood barrels.

The bottling machine is of great quality and it also have an azote injection device.

The stocking area is temperature controlled and the bottles lay in special cages imported from Spain which allow practical and easy shift of positions.
