Chiesa di San Quirico

Description

Tresana is a small village in the province of Massa Carrara, set on the right bank of the Magra river. It developed in the Early Midle Age around a lombard fortification. During the XII century the emperor Federico Barbarossa gave the village to the powerful Malaspina family, who already exercised their jurisdiction on a large part of the Lunigiana area.
Tresana is characterised by several fortifications, such as the ruins of the Malaspina castle, with the the base of the impressive quadrangular tower with barrel vaults, as well as the foundations ot two stone towers, the malaspina castle in Villa, private property recently refurbished, a simple quadrangular construction, with cylindrical stone towers, and the ruins of the castle once belonged to Maroello Malaspina and Alagia Fieschi.
The Baroque style church of San Quirico and Santa Giulitta is interesting too.
