Solopaca
Description
Solopaca is a small village in the province of Benevento. It has been inhabited since the prehistoric times: there are also significant of Samnites and Roman settlements.
The name of Surupaca, which means "with an opaque sun," appears for the first time in reference to the conformation of the territory.
The XIII century was a period of economic prosperity, due to the trade of wine, olive oil and cherries; Many patrician palaces with stone portal, the bell-tower in Vanvitelli style and the Church of St. Martino with a beautiful dual stone flight were built in this period.
Local DOC wines (Solopaca and Sannio) are very appreciated.
