San Bartolomeo in Galdo
Description
San Bartolomeo in Galdo dominates the extensive Fortore valley. Its name derives from a particular event happened in 838 AC, when the Prince Sicardo brought in Benevento the Apostle's relics, stealed from the Saracen island of Lipari. The urban network changed after many conflicts, during the XIII century. Subsequently, under the domain of Roberto D'Anjou, the village was reconstructed with fortified walls and towers on the back of a hill. In fact turreted doors are still visible in the historic centre, as well as the beautiful Church of Annunziata, the convent of Minor Friars and the Parish Church.
