Nola
Description
Nola is an ancient town in the Province of Naples and is 26 km from its provincial capital.
This is the place where the emperor Augustus died in 14 AD, in his ancestors' house.
It was one of the most important towns in Campania, having undergone considerable urban development.
Archaeological excavations have uncovered many interesting finds from the Greek period, however, other more significant testimonies include traces of a brick amphitheatre, another built of marble and the necropolis. The most important sights are Saint Felix Cathedral, the noble palazzos, the statue of Augustus and civilian and religious architecture outside the town.
