Melito is a small town in the province of Naples. Unlike the other villages of the area, there are not any castle, defensive walls or fortress in Melito. According to the historian Chianese, its name derives from the Vulgar Latin word "Mellito", which means "deep moat. The history of this town always followed the events of the history of Naples. The economy is mainly based on agriculture, especially in the production of apples.
