Desenzano del Garda

Description

Desenzano del Garda is a nice town set in the estreme South-West of the Lake Garda; its name probably derives from the latin Decentius, the name of the Roman villa's owner, whose remains are still visible today.
It's a very popular bathing resort also appreciated by the lovers of water sports (windsurfing, sailing and scub-diving) and represents an optimum point for trips and excursions.
The Cathedral, dedicated to Santa Maria Maddalena, preserves many important masterpieces by Andrea Celesti and Giambattista Tiepolo. Finally the castle, symbol of the town, built during the Middle Age on the ruins of a Roman castrum, worth a visit.
