Castelnuovo Berardenga

Description

Castelnuovo Berardenga, Etruscan and Roman in origin, owes its name to the family of the nobleman Berardo, who realized a domain between the X and the XIII century; then the term Berardenga was commonly accepted as the toponym of all those villages and castles under the jurisdiction of the Berardengas.
Castelnuovo Berardenga is rich in patrician villas (such as Villa Arceno - XVII century -, Villa di Catignano - second half of Xvi century -, Villa Chigi Saracini - XIX century -, Villa Fagnano - XVII century -) and churches (San salvatore's Monastery - built during the Longobard period and transformed in villa during the XIX century -, the Prepositura church, Santi Cosma and Damiano's Church, St. Peter's Charterhouse, Santa Maria's Church in Pieve Asciata, Santa Maria's Church in Pacina and San Felice's Church in Bossi); it allows to spend moments of pure relaxation, immersed in the enchanting scenery of the hills of Siena.
