Villa Ronche lies in the western portion of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Count Brandino Brandolini d'Adda has been running the winery with grit and excitement since 1988. The property covers an area of 150 hectares, of which 26 are planted with vines in the Friuli Grave Doc appellation. The land is known as "magredi", sandy and gravely soil of alluvial origin, i.e. deposit materials from rivers Meduna, Cellina and Tagliamento heaped over thousands of years. Modern farming methods are adopted in the vineyards: high density plantation and low yield per vine, very accurate pruning, lush vegetation, constant control and monitoring, all contribute to high quality grapes. Winemaking at Villa Ronche takes place in a wonderful 17th century barn in Cordignano, close to the vineyards, a highly evocative building equipped with the most advanced technology. A careful selection of grapes and a strict processing practice, conducted in the full respect for the wine traditions of Friuli, are the very essence of our wines.
Directed with passion by Alec Ongaro, the processing methods are focussed on boosting the aromatic and taste properties of our grape varieties, which express year by year the spirit and essence of this great terroir we grow.
