The family of Lonardo's - from a long time performing in agriculture activities - in the latest three decades is focusing his attention on grape's cultivation and on the production of great wines.
The brand "Contrade di Taurasi" was born in 1998 and his mission is based on a few basic principles:
- Using solely materials from their own vineyards;
- Experimenting with new agronomic and oenological techniques in the respect of the tradition;
- Optimizing the production process in order to obtain the best connection between price and quality;
- Using native leavens in order to exalt the typical organoleptic characteristics of the wine.
The company, even if to familiar management, has a technical-scientific staff of remarkable importance, because Lonardo family believe that also through the experimentation and the scientific search the wine can improve and become excellent:
Oenologist: Maurizio de Simone of Pro.Vite
Microbiologists:
Prof. Giancarlo Moschetti, University of Palermo
Dott. Nicola Francesca, University of Palermo
Oenological chemist: Prof. Raffaele Romano, University Federico II di Napoli
Ampelographer: Antonella Monaco, University Federico II di Napoli
Agronomist: dott. Antonio Di Pietro
The main vineyard is the Aglianico, prince of the native vineyards who gives origin to Taurasi D.O.C.G. and, in some particular vintage years, to the Taurasi Riserva. The company also produces a less pretentious red wine called Aglianico Campania I.G.T.
A speech apart for the Grecomusc', from native vineyard on "piede franco", that survives in scattered trees in the more ancient vineyards. The experimental wine-making, in collaboration with the University Federico II of Naples and of Palermo, has revealed much interesting surprises.
