Montefusco

Description

Montefusco is a nice town of Longobard origin whose name most probably derives from "Mons Fuscus", or obscure mountain, due to its distinctively dark and thick vegetation.
It became the capital of the Irpinian area before Avellino.
The Bourbon Prison is, with no doubts, the most important monument of the city; actually Town Hall, located in the main square, it was originally a fortress, transformed by the Aragonese into a Tribunal in 1743.
