Surroundings of Terni
Description
The province of Terni is the "homeland" of St. Valentine, the patron saint of lovers. Breathtaking views can be admired from the cliffs of Marmore. Not to be missed is the Dome in Orvieto, in gothic style with a beautiful frescoed façade and the Palazzo del popolo. The fossil forest of Duranobba puts together nature and history, while a religious tour have absolutely to pass through Narni, ancient Roman city with its Cathedral in Romanesque style and the Church of St. Francis, and the city of Calvi nell'Umbria, where it is possible to admire a real picturesque terracotta crib (1546) in the Church of St. Antonio.
Black truffle, wine and extra-virgin olive oil are surely the order of the day in the province of Terni; as for wines, the vicinity of Colli Amerini deserves special mention for its Doc vintages.
