Nocera Inferiore
Description
Nocera Inferiore lies within the territory of ancient Nuceria; its historic centre presents itself as a small medieval village.
The most interesting places to visit are the Tofano Barracks, the 9th century Lombard Castle, the 14th century Palazzo Guerritore Broya and Palazzo Fienga. The town centre holds the 14th century Church of Saint Anthony with its Convent. On the outskirts of the town is St. Prisco's Cathedral and beyond the town borders lies the 16th century sanctuary of Santa Maria di Monte Albino.
The Franciscan convent is home to the fascinating Agro Nocerino Museum, founded in 1964 to receive and preserve the large amount of material from the Necropolis of ancient Nuceria and from the Sarno Valley.
