Giglio Isle
Description
Isle of Giglio is located at the centre of the Tyrrhenian Sea and hides in its interior a hidden treasure: an untouched nature, a crystal clear sea, a rich and coloured underwater world.
Its name derives from neither from the well-known flower (lily) nor from the Florentine domination, but from a latinization of the greek word "goat" (aegilium).
Etruscan in origin, the isle was conquered by the Romans; subsequently it was dominated by the cities of Pisa and Florence. Finally it took part of Grand Dukedom of Tuscany.
