Description

In the heart of Southern Italy, characterized from a mostly mountainous territory, bathed in the Ionian and the Tirreno sea we find Basilicata. An ancient Region historically agricultural characterized by a territory mostly limestone-argillaceous and rich in potassium, suitable to develop the ancient tradition of wine making that has found its best expression in the historical vine grape variety called Aglianico. The lands, located at the slopes of the Mount Vulture in the valley where the river Ofanto flows in the locality of Monticchio Bagni and nearby the town of Rionero in Vulture, are of volcanic origin, covered by a lava layer that dates back over 800.000 years ago. The panorama mostly agricultural, enlightened by the craters that have given origin to the lakes is enriched by 10 hectares of land on which grows exclusively Aglianico, cultivated by the "Azienda Agricola Ofanto" that enduring the traditional vocation of wine making of the countrymen, obtains in a few years a relevant commercial success thanks to the production of wines of the highest quality.
