Concilio is one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in Trentino, with a modern approach and traditional values. Founded in 1860 by Angelo Grigolli, Concilio began producing wine at Mori, a small village in the province of Trento, in Italy's north. Over the years the company grew in size, other local families joined the venture, and in 1990 the company assumed its present form as a private company, as a group of vineyard owners became shareholders.
Concilio, whose motto is "Quality, Style, Personality", makes wines that are exactly that - quality wines with style and personality.
Concilio prides itself on the use of modern winemaking technology, the provision of the very best marketing support, and as a leader in Italian wine production in terms of quality and value. Concilio is an ideal proposition for both the Italian and international markets.
Concilio is comprised of three modern wineries. The grapes are crushed and the juice vinified in the cellars at Trento. Here the most up to date equipment is available to cater for the needs of individual grape varieties, such as pneumatic presses, refrigeration units and stainless steel tanks for temperature controlled fermentation. Maturation and bottling take place in the cellars at Volano, where the company headquarters are located. Storage capacity exceeds 12 million litres, of which over 600,000 litres are in oak. The two bottling lines can fill 16,000 bottles per hour, with state of the art technology adaptable to the requirements of each individual wine. All Reserve, Selection and Single Vineyard wines are made in the third winery of Concilio, located at Casteller, situated in the southern outskirts of Trento. Here, this state of the art facility is solely dedicated to the production of the most premium wines of Concilio.
From 620 hectares of its own vineyards situated between 200 and 800 metres above sea level in the province of Trento in Italy's north, Concilio produces some 700,000 cases each year. The large differences in microclimate, soils and altitude in this region, make it possible to produce a very broad range of wines and styles, of which each variety grows in conditions ideally suited to its needs. Wines are produced under the most stringent of Italian appellation restrictions and the scrutiny of local viticultural regulations, which drastically restrict the use of chemical fertilisers, pesticides and other sprays both in the interest of health and the environment.
Concilio has got the BRC (British Retail Consortium) and IFS (International Food Standard) certificates.
Concilio is in the enviable position of producing a full range of wines in different styles, as it is a producer that vinifies directly from its own grapes. Whether the wine is for every day drinking of longer term cellaring; a casual of formal meal; an aperitif or a celebration; the different ranges of Concilo provide a wine for every occasion.
