S'Arcu 'es Forros Archaeological Complex (Villagrande Strisaili)

The mountainous region of Mt. Gennargentu has an articulated nuraghic period cult complex with a large village and three megaron-type temples consecrated to the water cult. From the time the digs were carried out about 20 years ago the "S'Arcu 'es Forros Archaelogical Complex has yielded an extraordinary numbers of finds that were instrumental in providing a much more complex perspective of society, economy and religious ideology of the nuraghic civilization. Ritual and architecture reveal the close connection between religion, metal extraction and production, as well as the central role played by prehistoric Sardinia in the Mediterranean and the complexity of the nuraghic age religious system.
