The "Su logu de s'Iscultura" Contemporary Art Museum is situated in the heart of Tortolì, on the ground floor of the former municipal marketplace, a nineteenth-century building that once was a prison. This is truly a special museum, housing two exhibition areas: one indoors for temporary shows, and the outdoor one, which characterizes the spirit of the museum, mounted along the streets of the town and in the surroundings and featuring large sculptures that blend in perfectly with the natural and cultural context of Ogliastra. The museum originated in the late 1990's as a project for un urban and environmental sculpture park embracing the most innovative methodologies and procedures, becoming with time a site in which not only tourists, but the locals a swell, can come face-to-face with, and consider the most typical issues of contemporary art. The museum has attracted various artists of international fame. Here visitors can admire works by Mauro Staccioli, Antonio Levolella, Umberto Mariani, Maria Lai, Ascanio Renda, Pietro Coltella and Hitetoski Nagasawa.
