Sacred images
Many wonderful shrines and images of saints, both painted and in majolica, can be seen throughout the steps and streets of Praiano. Some of these date from the 1700's, others from more recent times. They are evidence of the religious spirit of the people and the great faith they entrusted to these saints for their security and protection. With their candles and oil lamps, they would have also served to give direction and light the streets at night. They are to be appreciated in this simple context rather than as works of art.
