il Pirata Restaurant Amalfi Coast

"Il Pirata" Restaurant - Via Terramare, Praiano.

After having walked through a tiny and rocky path, nearby the sea, we have reached "il Pirata" restaurant in Praiano. Breathtaking view, pleasant welcome, and a simple and fine menù including a good selection of wines: it is advisable to pre-book a table if you prefer a very romantic place on the rocks.
To start with we have had "Ruffiane del Pirata" (Ruffiane pasta with cherry tomatoes, crayfishes and squids) and "Paccheri alla Pirata" (Paccheri pasta with sun-dried tomatoes, potatoes, mussels and parmesan - Parmigiano Reggiano - flakes). They were both excellent: perfectly...al dente cooked, well seasoned, first choice products. As main course we have chosen "Totani e patate" (squids and potatoes), a speciality of both the restaurant and the Amalfi coast! The desserts were the "ricotta e pere" cake (cheese cake with pears), probably a variation of De Riso's one (a famous confectioner of the Amalfi coast) and "Semifreddo del Pirata" (a home-made ice-cream mousse, with savoiardi biscuits, cheese, almonds and hazelnuts)... a real symphony!
Due to the location, very close to Furore and the well-known Marisa Cuomo's wine cellars, we have had "Fior d'uva" , a fruit scented and full-bodied white wine (2005)!
Just one black mark: the background music was not suitable for the peace and quiet of the place. The sound of the sea would have been better!
