The historic Garzoni Gardens, are one of the most beautiful in Italy, representing the happy synthesis between geometric Renaissance and the spectacular of the rising baroque.
The garden can be considered a work of art of rare equilibrium, where the greenery, staircases, water fountains and statues constitute into something unique.
It is an absolutely unforgettable experience, lost amid the marvellous ness of this place of fantasy: caves, theatres made by boxwood hedges, statue representatives of mythological beings, satires, feminine figures, greenhouses with butterflies and bamboo forests.
An ancient, mischievous tradition was that the view was to appease to lovers and not only for the shadows of the foliage and shelters, which permitted kisses and cuddles, but for the labyrinth, in which one finds is a symbolic allusion of the walk to do together for one's whole life.
As soon as one enters the garden, one encounters the beautiful blooming flowerbeds, statues and two large circular ponds. By walking one arrives in front of two majestic staircases, a double flight characterised by a complex hydraulic system which feeds the waterworks.
Through the staircases one reaches the three superior terraces. From there the striking staircase of water, flanked by two lady statues which represent two eternal rivals: Lucca and Florence.
At the extreme highest point one finds the statue of Fame who blows in a shell, from which spouts a jet of water that makes a very high arch. Beside the principal route of the garden, one can penetrate the many other lateral avenues and pathways to discover the wonders, from the perfumes of essence, games of shadows and lights given by the vegetation, the mystery of the labyrinths, to the glamour of the sculptures.
