San Gaudioso Catacombs

Placed under Santa Maria della Sanità Church, the catacombs are related to the worship of San Gaudioso, bishop of Abitinia in Africa. The peculiar element is the area underneath the catacomb that was to make the so called "seditoi", seats where the corpses were placed to get dry before placing them into a common ossuary or into a private tomb.
