Casa del nonno 13 Restaurant

"Casa del nonno 13" Restaurant - Via Caracciolo, 13 - Sant'Eustachio di Mercato San Severino (SA). Tel. +39 089894399 Fax. +39 0898281105

"Casa del nonno 13" Restaurant is the typical place that you do not expect and positively surprise you. The entrance is quite monastic, realized in a period palace; but the real emotion is when you suddenly discover the restaurant under your feet: view kitchen (the local kitchen brigade is directed by Mr Donato Episcopo, grown at the school of Heinz Beck, the famous Michelin three stars chef), vaulted ceiling, stone walls, wooden dinner tables... in short an atmosphere that reminds us of the XVIII century Neapolitan style.

A soft light and an old days location frame a really high quality cuisine that exalt the authenticity and the natural taste of the raw materials in a refined and (it is not a contradiction) simple way. It is a cuisine that enhances the ingredients and does not cover them and surprise everybody for its clean taste.

After an entrée, composed by a stewed codcake, we had a artichoke stuffed with "provolone del monaco" (a typical Southern Italian cheese) and a carpaccio of Chianina beef with slices of truffle and vegetables, as appetizers, sipping an excellent Benanti Etna Rosso Rovittello 2003, a garnet red lucid wine. Gnocchi on creamed potatoes and boletus, as first course, and a milk pork with potatoes and salad, as second course. Every dish reinterprets the traditional country flavors in an excellence key, aiming to the rediscovery of the classic and high quality of the products.

The chestnut and chocolate mousse is really indescribable! I think that a glass of good Sciacchetrà wine or Passito di Pantelleria wine would be the perfect conclusion for a very pleasant evening.

This is a cuisine for all those lovers that appreciate the effort of selecting the best ingredients, without coming to a compromise. Casa del nonno 13" is a restaurant to taste!
