Sant'Orsola Terme

Description

Santa Orsola Terme is a resort and spa centre in the province of Trento, located on the western side of the Mocheni Valley and is crossed by stream Fersina, in the Upper Valsugana region. It is the ideal place for a quiet holiday between the mountains, in close contact with the surrounding environment, combining the benefits of the therapeutic properties of its thermal waters, to interesting excursions on foot or by mountain bike, to the typical farms along the stream Fersina, between the old mill and the old mines of the valley.
The center was founded between the IX and the X centuries, when the area submitted a great movement of rural people, particularly German-speaking, looking for land to colonize and cultivate. It belonged to the Gastaldia of Frassilongo and Viarago, while, from the ecclesiastical point of view, the town depended on the Diocese of Feltre until 1786.
The discovery of therapeutic properties of its thermal waters are to attribute to tests completed in the last years of the XIX century.
Although tourism is growing, the economy of this small mountain village is mainly based on agriculture, in particular to the cultivation of wild berries.

Sites of Interest:
- the Parish Church of St. Ursula, built in 1532 and extensively remodeled and enlarged in later centuries;
- the Memorial Monument to the Lost at War, in Carrara marble;
- the Church of San Michele Arcangelo (XIX century);
- the Thermal/Spa centre.
