Capo D’Orlando
Description
Capo d'Orlando, the ancient Agathiyrnum, is a nice seaside in the province of Messina. Its name derives from the famous paladin Roland of the Carolingian cycle: in fact, according to the tradition, Charlemagne passed through these lands during his pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
The Sanctuary of Maria SS. di Capo d'Orlando, the ruins of the Roland's castle and the Roman remains found in the hamlet of San Gregorio, worth a visit.
