Alicudi

Description

Alicudi, the ancient Ericusa (the isle of erica - heather), is both the westernmost island of the Aeolian archipelago and the most savage and wild one. It is part of the town of Lipari and it represents the ideal place for enthusiasts of nature, peace, simplicity and the great outdoors. Alicudi is for those who seriously want to rid themselves of daily stress: there are no cars or motorcycles, no streets or streetlights; in fact you will find electric light only in private houses where it was introduced less than a decade ago.
Public water supply has only recently been built where before there were only rainwater-cisterns.
A circular ancient volcano characterized the island, which is lived by about one hundred persons in the eastern part of it.
