Set on the right bank of the Tegorzo river, the territory of Alano di piave was inhabited since the Roman time, as many relics found in the hamlet of Fener document.
During the First World War, especially after the defeat of Caporetto, Alano di Piave was affected by the war; for this reason an Historic Museum, which hosts many of documents and materials relating to the First World War has been created.
The destruction caused by the war compromised the rich historical and artistic patrimony of the town. A large part of the churches have been rebuilt in 1920s, as for example, the church of Fener, dedicated to San Michele, and the church of Campo, dedicated to San Ulderico.
